Dear Students, Staff, Parents, Alumni, Benefactors and well wishers; It fills me with pride and joy to address you on the near about 40 years of our existence on earth. Established in 1985 at Birpara, very adjacent of Alipurduar town, queen of Dooars the College has traversed across thirty five glorious years bearing witness to historical and social changes of every kind imaginable while standing firm as a beacon imparting light of education. I feel both awed and proud to be part of a rich tradition that enables the students not only to thrive in academics but also to motivate them towards character building, leadership, extra co-curricular activities. I am very fortunate to have around me a dedicated and capable team of educators who have always been the driving force in the growth of the College. The College began its journey with affiliation from the University of North Bengal. Vivekananda College stands committed to make the teaching learning process on inspiring one for the students encouraging them to think analytically and independently. Currently the College offers 13 Undergraduate Major subjects (under National Education Policy – 2020). Our College also offers Distance Education under Rabindra Bharati University. Finally, “Yotirgamaya” – move towards light – the College essentially has symbolized this for all its students, past and present, a constant movement from darkness to light. May this light be with us all and help us grow from strength to strength.

Indeed it is quite humbling to invite you to take a glance into the heart that beats behind the appealing façade of Vivekananda College, Alipurduar. I think you for your interest in this institution which has recorded three decades of constant development, in the course of which it has accomplished much, making it one of the colleges in Alipurduar recognized for its excellence and therefore, much sought after by the fresh applicants. Inspired by ever-gleaming light sparked by Swami Vivekananda’s ennobling ideas and thoughts, Vivekananda College, Alipuduar happily brings together sound academic achievement with an extensive, vibrant co-curricular programme that includes sports, and leadership training programmes. Our mission is to inculcate the love of knowledge in our students and, for this, we aim to develop skills and demeanour of lifelong ‘learning’, essential for making responsible global citizens. This will make them immensely capable of facing the future with resilience and optimism. On the deeper level, we try to instil the values of respect and trust in relationships that are foundation of real success. This what we are and what we are up to. Our College has to be assessed not in comparison with other colleges in other States; but in keeping in view the inherent limitations within which we have to work. But, we have never deviated from our professed aim, and we always try to make our students realize and translate into their lives the great motto of Vivekananda that has become the very cornerstone of our lives- Education is the manifestation of perfection, already in men.
